Councils, Commissions, and Committees

Pastoral Council

Pastoral Council is the consultative and planning body for the Parish. Pastoral Council consists of the Pastor, nine parish members, and two parish trustees. This council provide guidance for our parish direction and pastoral planning.
Pastoral Council members and minutes
Each of the following commissions report to the Pastoral Council. A Pastoral Council member serves as a liaison on each commission.

Evangelization and Formation Commission

This commission collaborates with the pastor and staff on programs of evangelization and catechesis. The members help develop and promote opportunities for lifelong faith formation aimed at personal conversion and growth in faith.


Bible Study:

The Formation commission members facilitate a Bible study group.

Bible Study Information

Finance Council

Finance Council oversees all aspects of parish financial and budgetary matters:

  • Provides advice and guidance to the pastor in the administration of parish assets.
  • Prepares the parish budget, budgets for extraordinary expenditures, and reviews financial statements.
  • Monitors the financial condition of the parish, including regular financial reviews or audits as well as the internal financial controls.
  • Aids in the formulation and communication of an annual financial report to the parish.


Buildings and Grounds:

Assist with special projects to maintain the beauty and safety of the interior and exterior of the property.


Money Counters:

These volunteers count collection receipts on Monday mornings.


Human Concerns Commission

The Human Concerns commission discerns the needs of people in the parish and wider community - especially the poor - and identify resources to meet those needs while enlisting the active support and participation of parish members.


Bereavement Ministry:

Offers comfort and support to those grieving the loss of a loved one. At some point, we all face the loss of a loved one. Our Bereavement Ministry team invites anyone grieving a loss to join us so we may accompany you with care, support, and understanding.

GriefShare meets in Sampon Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.


Liturgical (Liturgy) Commission

The Liturgy commission helps to organize and maintain various necessary parish functions such as altar servers, lectors, cantors, eucharistic ministers, sacristans, ushers, and hospitality ministers. Every season in the Liturgical Calendar (Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time after Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time after Pentecost) celebrates the life of Jesus and reminds us to grow and sustain in his love and knowledge. The Liturgical commission meets as needed to plan our Mass celebration for each of these seasons.


Following are volunteer ministries that are a crucial part of each liturgy at St. Margaret Mary.


Altar Servers (Acolytes):

Youth and adults are needed to serve in this important ministry of assisting Father at Mass.


Assisting Sacristans:

These individuals take care of the sacristy (sacred vessels, linens, etc.) and preps for any liturgical worship or event.


Cantors:

These volunteers lead our assembly in sung prayer during the Mass.


Church Environment/Decorations:

These volunteers create a welcoming environment for all, includes church decor for various liturgical seasons and holiday.


Church Cleaning Crew:

Volunteers who handle tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, candle replacement, and filling the holy water fonts.


Eucharistic Ministers:

Distribution of communion at Mass.


Eucharistic Ministers to the Homebound:

These volunteers serve a very important ministry by bringing the Holy Eucharist to Catholics who are unable to attend Mass.


Readers (Lectors):

Proclaims God's word to the assembly gathered together for liturgy.


Screen Operators:

Operates power point presentation to accompany Mass prayers and songs.


Technology Committee:

The technology committee provides direction and oversight in the use of technology to help promote St. Margaret Mary's mission.


Ushers (Hospitality Ministers):

These volunteers are typically the first individuals our parishioners and visitors see when arriving at Mass. They provide a warm welcome to each of our liturgical celebrations, assist parishioners as needed, take collections, and distribute bulletins.


Stewardship Commission

The Stewardship commission is responsible for developing programs that encourage parishioner involvement and communicating messages of stewardship to the parish. A few of the areas that are addressed by our Stewardship commission are:


Communications:

Provide marketing and other communication assistance for events and groups


Parish Life:

Assist with developing opportunities for our parish community to come together through various events and programs.


Time and Talent:

Reach out to parishioners to ask for assistance with various events and/or ongoing programs.


Welcome:

Assist with registration of new members, develop a welcoming atmosphere to assist parishioners with questions, etc.


Treasure:

Coordinate annual parish stewardship appeal and cleanup of parishioner database as needed.
